Search and Rescue (SAR) Team Needed in Southern Maine
July 15, 2012

On May 14, 2012 the York County Search and Rescue Team (SART) was officially disbanded. This means that there is currently no SAR team in southern Maine and the nearest team is based in Waterville. If you are interested in starting a team in southern Maine, there is a meeting on July 25th at 6:30PM at Cabela’s in Scarborough.
SAR work is generally physically demanding and requires a level of comfort being in the outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions in all types of terrain, in all seasons, day and night. With the understanding that if you do not feel comfortable or for some other reason are unable to respond to a call out that is fine. This is volunteer work and we understand that family and jobs need to have priority.
