480,000 Peaks Bagged in New Hampshire

This year saw the 10,000th person to bag all of New Hampshire’s forty-eight 4,000+ foot peaks. So if you do the math… 10,000 x 48 = 480,000! That’s nearly half a million times a determined hiker deliberately set out to climb a peak to check if off the list, and enjoy some fine scenery and fitness along the way. And I did a rough calculation of the total vertical elevation gain required; about 1 million feet! How about calories burned? Miles walked? Steps taken? Pictures taken? Heartbeats? Stop counting and go hiking!
