Introduction to Hiking Workshop

Interested in trying hiking? Want to learn what is required to travel safely and stay safe on the trail?

Planning a safe and successful hike and being prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at you, will be the topic of an evening workshop sponsored by the Maine chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), Tuesday, May 15. The workshop is free and AMC members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Experienced Maine Chapter AMC leaders will discuss a variety of topics to help participants learn to plan a hike, know what to wear and what to carry in their packs. This workshop is designed primarily for those who are new or relatively new to the hiking experience. Safety will be emphasized. Everyone is welcome.

The workshop will be held at the South Portland library and runs from 6 to 9 PM. To register and for more information, contact Bryan Courtois.
