The new shelter on Horseshoe Pond in AMC’s Maine Woods was dedicated to the late Andrew Norkin this past weekend. Andrew was the director of AMCs Trails department for 19 years and was heavily involved in the trails development in the area including the Horseshoe Pond trail.

Funding for the shelter was provided by the Boston, Maine, and Worcester Chapters  Construction of the shelter and the handicap accessible trail were completed by an outside contraction in the fall of 2021. The Maine and Worcester Chapters also contributed by peeling the logs for the shelter.

The dedication was led by Susan Arnold, AMCs interim CEO & president, with the Norkin family and members of the Maine and Worcester Chapters in attendance.
