AMC’s Trail Sign Auction

Have you ever wished you could take one of those distinguished white-background and green-lettered AMC trail signs home with you? You can! Every year the AMC’s White Mountain Trail Crew replaces weathered or out-of-date trail signs with new signs. These signs are considered collector’s items, having guided thousands of visitors for many years along celebrated paths throughout the Whites. And best of all, these retired signs are auctioned off with proceeds going to support trails in the Northeast!

This year’s auction will take place on eBay and will begin on Tuesday November 23, 2010 at 12:00PM and ends on Friday, December 3 ar 12:00PM. All proceeds will support AMC’s trail efforts in the Northeast. Visit the AMC web page to learn more.

2010 Signs For Sale

Baldface Circle – From the summit of North Baldface, this sign shows years of exposure to wild mountain weather and icy windstorms.
Dry River Cut-Off – This sign directed many adventurous hikers off the beaten paths of the southern Presidentials into the heart of the Dry River Wilderness.
Goose Eye Trail – This sign from the Goose Eye Trail tells the story of the wild Mahoosuc region, stained with spruce sap and scarred by the teeth of a black bear.
Hancock Loop Trail – Standing 4,319 feet above sea level on the summit of South Hancock, this sign directed hikers to North Hancock along the Hancock Loop Trail.
Notch Trail – This sign stood at the trailhead of the Notch Trail, a gem of a soft path amid the rugged Mahoosuc trails, which rises gently to meet the Appalachian Trail at the southern gate of Mahoosuc Notch.
Whitehouse Trail – Located at a major trail hub, this sign has guided thousands of hikers from the Flume Visitor Center to the Cascade Brook and Liberty Spring Trails.
