If you are interested in the Appalachian Trail, there’s a free evening planned for you! Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. when thru-hiker and Maine Appalachian Trail Club (MATC) Trail Maintainer Carey Kish will share his Appalachian Trail experiences and personal connection to hiking in “An Adventurous and Inspiring Evening along the Appalachian Trail.†Photographs transport audience members to the A.T., leaving them with a greater appreciation of the Trail and the importance of this national treasure. The presentation is at the Hilton Garden Inn at 19 Great Falls Plaza in Auburn. Meet Carey at 6:30PM, presentation starts at 7PM. Email the Friends of the A.T. in Maine and they’ll save you a seat! Carey Kish of Bowdoin is a member of the MATC and maintains five miles of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Kish is a long-time multi-sport adventurer who has thru-hiked the 2,150-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. The former president and founding member the Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, a Wilderness First Responder, and a Registered Maine Guide, Carey has led countless hiking and backpacking in Maine and beyond, and is also an avid mountain biker, sea kayaker, and downhill and cross-country skier. A professional writer and photographer, Kish is editor of the AMC Maine Mountain Guide (10th edition) and the AMC Maine Chapter Wilderness Matters newsletter. He is also the hiking & camping columnist for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. His work has appeared in AMC Outdoors, Maine Invites You, The Sunrise Guide, VisitMaine.com, Maine Magazine, Port City Life, New England Ski Journal and others.
About the Androscoggin Land Trust
The Androscoggin Land Trust is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) membership-supported organization dedicated to protecting, through land conservation and stewardship, the important natural areas, traditional landscapes, and outdoor experience in the Androscoggin River watershed. We currently conserve approximately 4,850 acres of land, including over ten miles of riverfront along the Androscoggin River.
