On Thursday March 29 David Field will share stories and photos from his new book Along Maine’s Appalachian Trail that feature the history of Myron Avery and building the AT in Maine, highlighting 100 additional photos recently discovered since publication. Dave’s talk will bring to life the AT in Maine, its beginning, and its history. The photos reveal the rugged landscape of Maine and trail development in action and how it was all accomplished. Knowing the history of the trail you hike will add a meaningful dimension to your dayhike or outing on the AT in Maine. Field’s talk in Holden is at 7pm on Thursday, March 29th at Maine Audubon’s Fields Pond Center, 216 Fields Pond Rd, Holden, ME 04429, about 15 minutes south of Bangor. Parking is free and plentiful. This program is co-sponsored by Maine Audubon and the Maine Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. For more information, download a flyer (108 KB PDF) or email Education Chair John Mullens. All events are free and open to the public.
