Headed to Tuck’s this spring to do some downhill skiing? The new Avalanche Danger Scale is now being used by the Mount Washington Avalanche Center. The scale includes five rating categories to provide an assessment of avalanche likelihood as well as potential avalanche sizes. In addition, backcountry recreationists will find more advice on travel in avalanche hazard areas based on the danger level assigned. So check out the new scale BEFORE you go to understand the new rating system!
