AMC Maine recognized volunteers at Annual Meeting

AMC Maine recognized three outstanding members at our Annual Meeting on 25: Scott Guay, Appie of the Year; Phil Coyne, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Jeanine Libby, Lifetime Achievement Award.

Guest speakers for our Annual Meeting were Maulian Bryant, Executive Director of the Wabanaki Alliance, and Eliza Townsend, Conservation Policy Director for the Appalachian Mountain Club. They led a conversation on “Understanding the Relationship between Wabanaki Sovereignty & Natural Resource Conservation.”

AMC Maine also elected new Chapter officers and committee chairman for 2026. Chapter officers: Emily Brill, Chair, and Wendy Hayes, Treasurer.

Committee chairs: Emili Dubar, At Large; Rota Knott, Communications; Landon Flake and Nora Sosnoff; Conservation (co-chairs); Shelly Gallender, Family; Scott Guay, Leadership Development; Shelly Gallender, Outings; Emily Brill – Midcoast and Mora Judd – Southern, Programs (co-chairs); and Marc Roy, Trails.

Volunteers recognized during the Annual Meeting included departing Executive Committee members Jeanine Libby, Committee Chair, Outings; Julie Cunningham, Secretary; Keith Cunningham, Vice Chair; Paul Hahn, Committee Chair, Nominating, and Phil Coyne, Committee Chair, Trails.

Volunteers who led three or more trips in 2024-25 were: David McCarthy, Denise Fredette, Douglas O’Heir, Elaine Moore, Jeanine Libby, Joshua Barlow, Katherine Barlow, Kim Watson, Michelle Moody, Mora Judd, Peter Roderick, Phillip Coyne, Robert Pantel, Rota Knott, Sarah Hunter, Scott Guay, Shelly Gallender, Susan Cottle, and William Baker.

Volunteers who have led trips for more than 5 years were: David McCarthy, Denise Fredette, Jeanine Libby, Kim Watson, Michelle Moody, Peter Roderick, Phil Coyne, and Sarah Hunter.

New trips leaders welcomed were: Bill Baker, Carl Wilcox, Carol Nelson, Doug O’Heir, Milt Stein, and Mora Judd.

Trails volunteers with at least 96 hours of volunteer time were: Cassandra Haskell, Cassandra Shaffer, Josh Barlow, Marc Roy, Mora Judd, Peter Moulton, Rota Knott, and Susan Cottle. Trails volunteers with at least 224 hours of volunteer time were: Peter Roderick, Phillip Coyne, and Scott Guay.
