Join us on Wednesday, October 30 to hear Carey Kish and his wife Fran’s tales of their 12-day dream backpacking trek traversing Baxter State Park south to north. The route covered 85 miles from Togue Pond Gate at the southern end of Baxter State Park to Matagamon Gate in the far northeast corner. Enjoying this long-term dream of a winding and scenic wilderness thru-hike, they combined at least a dozen trails and took in every fabulous vista. Four food drops stashed along the way and nights spent in lean-tos and one cabin meant reasonably light packs. There was only one problem…
Carey and Fran will share their photos, their tales and their mostly joy about walking through Baxter State Park. Join them at the Curtis Memorial Library for a potluck dinner at 6pm and their talk and slide show at 7pm. Bring a potluck item to share and your own dinnerware (plate, utensils etc.). Drinks will be available. Or, simply come for the talk at 7pm. For more information, please download a flyer (120 KB PDF) or email Meetings and Education Chair John Mullens. All events are free and open to the public.
