Have you ever thought about the “freeway” of trails we all hike on, but you want to pay your “toll”? National Trails Day is a way to do that!. The event occurs this year on Saturday, June 4th and there are several ways you can get involved! The Maine Chapter is co-sponsoring an event with the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. Volunteers with be shuttled via 19-foot skiff to Babson Island and Bear Island in the Eggemogon Reach. Work will consist of expanding and clearing the hiking corridors on these two well protected, easily accessed, heavily used and wild feeling islands. Or, donate some of your own time to clean-up a favorite trail in your neck of the woods. And as they say, “Trails Day is EVERY day!” There’s a job for everyone!
