January 12, 2014

Join authors John Neff and Howard R. Whitcomb on Thursday January 16 in Brunswick as they present a narrated slide show of their book, Baxter State Park and Katahdin. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by. The character of Baxter State Park and the great mountain at its heart can be powerfully conveyed through two words: “forever wild”. The mountain was known as Ktaadn, or “the greatest mountain,†to native peoples. They were followed by colonial adventurers and later by loggers. Today, Baxter State Park is the guardian of this vast wilderness area for all to enjoy. The event is at the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, 04011. There will be a potluck at 6 PM (optional) followed by the slide show at 7 PM. Please bring a food item to share and your own utensils and plate. For more information, please download a flyer (630 KB PDF) or email Meetings and Education Chair Fran Leyman. All events are free and open to the public.
