Backcountry Skiing Workshop

Have you ever wanted to go hut to hut skiing through the Maine Wilderness or tackle some of the steep chutes in Tuckerman or King Ravine or even just put your skis on and go exploring? If so, then you will not want to miss the AMC’s Backcountry Skiing Workshop Tuesday Jan 7 at Allspeed, 72 Auburn St, Portland Me. The workshop starts at 6:30 pm with a short social hour and slide show featuring backcountry skiing around New England. After the social, we’ll get into the details of backcountry ski trips, what gear you need, where to get that gear and general wilderness backcountry ski preparation. Techniques, gear, planning and trip suggestions for both low-angle backcountry skiing as well as steep backcountry skiing will be covered.
